GENE KATO (Playwright/Sound Design) Gene is thrilled that you are in attendance at this World Premiere production of 18 Holes. His past writing credits include Next Stage’s inaugural production of Just For Laughs, his adaptation of The Little Mermaid (produced by Main Street Players), as well as over 20 other plays and screenplays. His newest comedy 10 Pin Alley (dealing with the age old war between bowling pins and that pesky ball that continually knocks them down) will be produced by Vintage Theatre in Feb/March 2009. Next summer, Gene departs Denver to return to his native Houston where he will begin filming his new screenplay Horrorville. Thanks to Jessica, Mary, and the wonderful cast and crew for breathing life into this new play and bringing something different to Denver stages for audiences to experience. Gene would like to dedicate 18 Holes to his dad, Michael, who has logged thousands of conversation hours at the tee box – and to his grandparents Norma and Kenneth (Erwin) Impelmance -who have passed on.
KERRY BEEBE (Norma) is delighted to be working with Next Stage and this wonderful show and fabulous new space. Kerry has worked with the Main Street Players, And Toto Too, Miner’s Alley, Ensemble Experience, the Evergreen Players, and the Vintage Theatre. Favorite roles include Queen Aggravain in Once Upon a Mattress and Mrs. Watts in The Trip to Bountiful. Love to the golfers in my family: Scott, Joe, Dan and especially Dad. Thanks for the putting lessons, Father o’ mine.
PATRIC CALL (Paris) This is Patric's first show at the Aurora Fox Theatre. He is pleased to be making his debut and working with his fellow actors. Patric is coming from Red Rocks Community College where he was seen as "Mr. Lepke" in Jimmy Shine, and the "Spider King" in A Midsummer Night's Western. He is ecstatic to be a part of 18 Holes and looks forward to his upcoming career. Patric would like to thank his family, closest friends and of course, Jake, for supporting him in the arts!
L. CORWIN CHRISTIE (Triona) is a Chicago native and graduate of OberlinCollege. Most recently seen as Alice in Uncorked Productions’ Closer, other favorite roles in Denver include: Sara in A Touch of the Poet and More Stately Mansions (2007 Denver Post “Ovation” Nomination - Best Drama), Lynn in Red Herring, Mindy in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, Viola in Twelfth Night, Amy in Amy’s View, and Janet in Dead White Males (2005 Denver Post “Ovation” Nomination - Best Actress in a Comedy). Corwin is a founding member of Uncorked Productions. This is her first show with Next Stage.
JESSICA CLARE (Director)
MARY COAN (Stage Manager) enjoys being the Stage Manager. She last worked as the stage manager for Next Stage’s Falsettos. Other shows include Chess and the quirky show The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow also, with Next Stage. Some of her favorite shows at Fox include The Miracle Worker, High Hat Hattie and Taffetas. She knows you’ll like the show and hopes you will tell all of your friends and family to come and see it.
ARTHUR GOODMAN (Erwin) A veteran of over fifty years onstage, since moving to Colorado, he has played the Prosecutor in Deadly Game and Poppy in Voice of the Prairie at the Denver Victorian, Jack Mullen in The Weir, Sir Francis Walsingham in Reckoning With Marlowe both at the Federal, John Frick in The Last Yankee and most recently, Jamie Cregan in A Touch of the Poet at Germinal Stage. He directed “Tarnished Eagle” and won a Best Director citation for “No Sex Please, We’re British” in 2007. In his native New York he did summer and winter stock and was on many major television programs in the fifties and sixties. Some of his favorite roles have been Henry VIII in “Anne of the Thousand Days”, Henry II in both “Becket” and “The Lion in Winter”, Joe Keller in “All My Sons”, Doc in “Come Back Little Sheba”, Coach in “That Championship Season” Sir in “The Dresser” and George in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”.
JOSEPH JOHNSON (Arty) Nine-year-old Joseph will attend fifth grade at Kendallvue Elementary in 2008-2009. His lighthearted humor awards him position as class clown. Some of his interests include skate boarding, bicycling and computer/video games. He's excited about his theatrical debut in 18 Holes. He thanks those who've made this opportunity possible, those who've supported him and those of you who have come to see the show!
SHARON KAHN-KAHN (Geraldine) has enjoyed acting since her first role as Della Dillingham, the wife, in a televised production of Gift of the Magi, while she was in high school. She took a leave from stage drama for real-life drama, rearing two children and one husband, but returned to theatre as the Stage Manager in Our Town and Domina in A Funny Thing Happened… in the Kraempert Theatre at CasperCollege in Casper, WY. In Denver, she has worked at Germinal Stage (Nursey in Antigone and Marina in Uncle Vanya), The Changing Scene (Thelma in Falling Objects and Maria in Glad Grace) and The Westminster Dinner Theatre (Betty in Inspecting Carol), among others. She has several commercial voiceover credits and has worked as a radio disc jockey. Sharon is president of Role Players Unlimited, a company providing professional role personifiers for academic interview training.
BENJAMIN T. KOUCHERIK (Ivan) is excited to be making his Next Stage debut. Favorite credits include Caliban (The Tempest), Montresor / Narrator (An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe), Ron Miller (Breaking The Code) and going on as Sir Toby Belch (Twelfth Night). Thanks to my wife, friends and family, and to everyone who supports new work and local theatre."
DANIEL LANGHOFF (Lyle) is thrilled to work on the world premiere of this wonderful script. With Next Stage, he's been seen as Nikolai (Chess) and Balladeer/Oswald (Assassins- Henry Award, Best Musical 2005). Other recent roles include Arnold (The Boys Next Door- Southern Colorado Repertory Theatre), Clifford (Deathtrap - Miner's Alley Playhouse; Marlowe Award-Best Supporting Actor, Drama), Coffin (Moby Dick! – The Musical- Aurora Fox) and David (Company - TownHallArtsCenter). Thanks to Jessica, Gene, Next Stage, monkey, this cast and crew, my family, and most to Grandma Ilene and my dad, who brought golf (in all its splendor and annoyance) into my life
ROBIN LITT (Sydney) is very excited to be performing in her first show with Next Stage. She has worked in theater and film throughout Denver and L.A., where she recently received her B.A. in Psychology from ScrippsCollege. Her favorite credits include Jennie Mae in The Diviners, Becky in The Heidi Chronicles, Belle in A Christmas Carol, Marie Louise in My Three Angels, and Evelyn Munn in The Children's Hour. She would like to thank Gene and Jessica for the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing project!
JASON MAXWELL (Nate) is delighted to be appearing in his third production with Next Stage. Previous work with the company has included assistant directing Chess and a role as Todd in 2006's regional premiere of The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow. Recently Jason was seen in Brilliant Traces with Vintage Theatre and most recently closed out his role as Ezra Chater in Firehouse's Arcadia. One of Maxwell's past favorite roles was as the dead body of Tony Hendon in the Evergreen Players' Lucky Stiff. (2005 Ovation Award nominee Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy). Up next is a role as Leo in this winter's production of The Little Foxes at Vintage. He holds a B.A. in Acting/Directing from the University of Colorado at Denver. Many thanks to the cast, crew, and author for making this an unforgettable experience.
MISSY MOORE (Fight Choreographer) is thrilled to be working for the first time ever with Next Stage and to be behind the scenes working with such and amazing group of talented people. Other fight sequences that she has choreographed include Almost Maine (Aurora Fox), The Illusion (Limelight Theatre Co.) and Man of La Mancha (Openstage Theatre Co.). Missy is a freelance teacher and actor by trade and she is looking forward to her very busy summer. Keep your eyes peeled for her upcoming shows which include Matt & Ben at Miner's Alley Playhouse, How Anansi the Spider Came to America at the Aurora Fox for Little Foxes and Summertree at Miner's Alley Playhouse. She would like to extend her heartfelt thanks to her friends and family for their continuous support. Enjoy!
KARLA PUSKAS (Costumer)
KARALYN STAR PYTEL (Lighting Designer) is the resident lighting designer for Miners Alley Playhouse and for the Denver Victorian Playhouse. Star also designs for the Lakewood Cultural Center in which she just recently designed Jekyll and Hyde by Performance Now Theatre Company. Some of Stars' past credits include The Colorado Light Opera 2008 season at CU Boulder, CATS and Altar Boyz by Carousel Dinner Theatre in Ft. Collins, and Tuesdays with Morrie at Miners Alley Playhouse. It is a great honor to work on this new script and I thank Next Stage for the opportunity.
BIZ (Set Designer)
ROBERT MICHAEL SANDERS (Hal) has been singing, acting and performing for the past 18 years, doing commercials, television specials, theatre, films, and voiceover work. Robert has won multiple awards for songwriting and has been named to the Grammy list several times. Current credits include producing, and writing music for American Bride TV and Miami Ink. Acting credits include award nominations for best ensemble in Almost Maine, and Urinetown. Robert works a lot with kids and is producing a young new music artist in Denver as well as keeping busy with his own group. “I’m thankful everyday that I get to do what I love”
JOEY SANTOS (Doug) is from Temple Texas, but he calls Denver home. He is honored to be appearing in 18 Holes. Not only is he an actor but a singer and dancer as well and has taught all styles of Dance. He was a competitive ballroom dancer for 16 years. Currently he choreographs for ballroom dancers at Colorado and for Colorado figure skaters. He is also a sought after couture costume designer for ballroom dancers and figure skaters around the country and owner of Santos Designs inc. He is wardrobe director and designer for the Cleo Parker Robinson dance ensemble. Performance credits include Lenny in Rumors, Prince Dauntless in Once upon a Mattress, the ambassador in La Cage Aux Folles, Matt" in The Fantasticks, Hal in Picnic, and most recently as Spenelli and the plant carrying bellboy in Dinah Was. He would like to thank Mom and Dad, Cleo Parker Robinson, and Robert for their continued support. Also, a sincere thank you to the talented cast of 18 Holes for allowing him to be a part of this wonderful experience that is "Theater" and God for the gift of being able to do what he loves everyday!
GLORIA SHANSTROM (Publicist) operates Full Court Press, a company specifically designed to assist small non-profit arts organizations. Ms. Shanstrom was the House Manager of the Auditorium & Buell Theatres from 1987 - 98 leaving that position to work for Denver Center Attractions as the Broadway Tour Marketing Assistant. She served nine years on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Theatre Guild and currently serves as General Manager.
ROSEY WATERS (Hattie) last tread the boards of a Denver stage as the Ghost in Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge at the Vic. Previously, she has been seen in a variety of roles from the mother in Brian Bauman’s Elegy for a Midshipman to Sister Robert Anne in Nuncrackers at the Pinnacle Dinner Theater. But her true love is Imagination Makers Theater Company, where she has created, directed and sometimes acted in 25 original productions for Denver area young people. Rosey has toured nationally and in England. She wants to thank her friends, Jess and this fabulous cast--thanks for welcoming me even though I was late!
SUZANNAH WELLENS (Yvonne) most recently appeared in Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol at the Victorian Playhouse, where she stepped in and out of the Scrooge character. She has often appeared at Germinal Stage, where her performances as Hesione in Heartbreak House and Elmire in Tartuffe, Born Again were recognized with Colorado Backstage Spotlight Awards. She last appeared in Aurora as Diana in The Fox’s Lend Me a Tenor.
